I did this piece as my entry in the furniture flip challenge on Instagram and the contest was to flip a piece of furniture into a modern farmhouse style. When I saw this enamel top cart I knew it would be the perfect piece to add some modern farmhouse style too. I love versatile pieces and a cart is just that. This cart be used for so many different things. It is meant to be for the kitchen so it has a cutting board that slides out but could be used for crafts, coffee bar, wine bar, makeup, crafting, toys, etc. This is how the piece started off.

Sometimes I have a vision from the very start of seeing a piece, that was not the case with this one. I had no vision for it initially . I always start by cleaning a piece completely. Then I sand the piece down because most of the time that helps me see what I am working with it . This piece surprised me with how beautiful it sanded down but when I stained it the wood didn’t stain as nicely as I would have liked so I knew I would be painting it. I also knew I needed some kind of texture or dimension to the piece to add more character to the piece. The best way to do that for this piece was by adding wood slats on the sides and front of the piece. Once I got those all on and stained, I knew I wanted to paint it white. There is something about the combination of wood and white that just makes my heart so happy. It’s simple, cozy , and so pleasing for the eye.

I switched out the drawer pull and routered the drawer to give it some additional dimension. I used the rest of the original hardware but painted it black and then used rub n buff antique to give them an old antiqued finish to them. i love how much it pops on the white finish. I love antique gold finishes!

Next was the inside of the cabinet I lined the drawer and the cabinet with a peel and stick vinyl farmhouse tile, this makes it great for wiping up clean and also adds pop of style when you open the drawer. I also painted the drawer inside with black paint to pop against the white cabinet What says modern farmhouse more than a White and black combination. It’s a timeless duo that never goes out of style .

Tons of storage for some many things in this cute little piece. And why cant the inside of your cabinet be just as pretty as the outside?

What would you use this beautiful modern farmhouse cart for ?
